About Jack Burlison

I’m a creative from Newcastle upon Tyne. I’ve always loved making things, and I still do.

Where it started

I’ve loved creating things from an early age. Those childhood doodles grew into stop-motion animations, which eventually turned into short films, while banging pots and pans in the kitchen evolved into writing and recording music and soundtracks.

I began my professional career in event photography and videography, developing an eye for composition, timing and capturing the perfect shot, before moving into image retouching and video editing. That’s where I really found my passion for bringing projects to life.

From choosing the best shots and crafting the narrative through editing, to shaping the sound, adding motion graphics and refining the final look through colour grading, I love every stage of the process.

How I work

Every story is different and deserves its own way of being told. I always have the final shot in sight and build everything around that.

I start by understanding your objectives, then develop the concept, script, storyboard and shot list. From there I bring everything together, both in front of and behind the camera.

I can direct, edit, colour grade and shape the whole visual identity of a project, so every creative decision serves the story. Working across the whole process means the original idea stays with me at every beat, from the first conversation to the finished film.

Sound

My musical background spans songwriting, sound design and sync placements for Lionsgate films and Coca-Cola, so I know how to craft the sonic space of a project. Whether it’s driving the narrative, setting the pace or building an emotional connection with the audience, what we hear is just as important as what we see.

My music video Scarecrow won Best Music Video at Sunderland Short Film Festival. It’s part of The God, The One and The Devil, a five-part narrative music video series that I produced, directed, edited and scored.

Marketing and content

Alongside the creative work, I have professional experience in social media management, paid advertising, ecommerce, digital content and creative marketing. I don’t just know how to create engaging content, I know how to get it in front of the right audiences.
